Phones & Phone linesPhones trueCall will work with a wide range of telephone equipment including corded and cordless phones. It protects all the phones that are plugged into it. If you need a number of extensions in your house we recommend that you use a modern multi-handset cordless phone system so that trueCall can protect all your phones. We recommend that you use a telephone that has a display screen that shows you the caller’s number when you receive a call. trueCall forwards the caller ID that it receives from the network to your telephone. It can also display the names of you regular callers if you can attach a name to their number at your Internet Control Panel. Some telephones check your 1571 network voicemail service for messages on a regular basis – these are called 1571 phones. They automatically pick up the line a few moments after the end of each call, and then every 30 minutes during the day and night. trueCall’s red LED is there to tell you that your phone line is in use, so a 1571 phone will make this light up at regular intervals. Some people prefer not to use 1571 phones with trueCall. Phone lines trueCall will work on standard telephone lines as well as phone lines delivered through the cable TV network. It works fine on broadband lines. trueCall offers you extensive protection against nuisance calls - Whisper, Shield, Zap, call screening, call log, night shield, code access, missed call reporting, etc. If you get your network provider to turn on Caller ID you get even more features - Zap and Star lists, anonymous caller rejection, Starred callers only, International override, etc. trueCall was designed for use in the home - it shouldn’t be plugged into office switchboards, lines that are shared with a fax machine, or anywhere you need to dial ‘9’ for an outside line. Voice over IP trueCall will work with VoIP systems that utilise standard telephone handsets - ie systems that present a standard BT phone socket. We have successfully tested trueCall with a range of VoIP adaptors, but can’t guarantee that it will work with all of them. You need to set trueCall to VoIP mode in your Internet Control Panel. Pendant alarm systems trueCall is compatible with many pendant alarm systems, but we recommend that once you have installed trueCall you just check that your alarm system is still working correctly. Multiple wired extensions trueCall protects a single telephone, or all the handsets of a cordless phone system, from nuisance calls.
